Favorite type of client? Yes, I guess I do. I like when a client understands the value a professional contractor offers, and when a client is realistic about what they want, what they need, and what they can afford. 

1. You schedule a visit /estimate.
2. I come out to assess the project and we discuss what would be necessary to make it come to fruition. This step may take a couple of visits.  
3. When you decide to move forward, I have a contract that will be listed with figures for the job as well as draws for the project. 
4. I set a schedule with you to commence work. 

Absolutely! Look, your home is probably the largest financial investment you will ever make, so I not only understand, I expect you to get estimates. I also expect you to go with the contractor that makes you most comfortable. This can be a stressful time and I am here to ease that stress, not add to it. 

It depends on the project. If your project is under $15,000. I would take 50% upfront and the other half at completion. The only exception to this is when special order materials are purchased. (items that cannot be taken back to the store) 

If your project is over $15,000, then I operate in draws…. usually 3 draws. One to start, one in the middle of work, and the last at completion.
